First Step Substance Abuse Outpatient Treatment Program for Adolescents & Adults

First Step Substance Abuse Treatment is a licensed intensive out-patient substance abuse treatment program that addresses the needs of adolescents and adults who are active substance abuse users. The program utilizes a didactic group model that places strong emphasis on addressing the emotional and behavioral reasons associated with teen drug usage.

Home Based and Case Management Services for Delinquent Youth

Home Based Services is a continuum of care made up of programs designed and implemented to serve adjudicated youth within the community. Eligible youth include those 11 to 19 years of age who have been adjudicated through the Wayne County Juvenile Court System and need intensive services that are designed to keep them at home and crime-free. Emphasis is placed on exposing youth to constructive recreational activities and reputable employment opportunities, as well as involvement in weekly social living skill building groups.

Milestones Substance Abuse Outpatient Treatment Program for Adolescents

Milestone is designed to meet the needs of juvenile offenders with acute substance abuse needs. The program focuses on providing intensive therapeutic, didactic and supportive services. These services address and treat the co-morbid issues of conduct challenges and substance abuse. The broad range program assists youth with delinquency and behavioral problems, to work towards remaining crime and drug free, employed and in school. The program provides an alternative to out-of-home detention placement.

89% of youth were working or in school upon termination from the substance abuse treatment program
74% of youth remained totally “drug-free” during treatment

Parent Nurturing Programs

The Parent Nurturing Programs are family centered and designed to build nurturing parenting skills. The program focuses on the importance of raising children in a warm, trusting and caring household. Nurturing Programs value the essential ingredients of humor, laughter and fun to promote happiness in families.

Nurturing Program instructors partner with parents and children as nurturing skills are learned and put into practice. The instructors works with the entire family to teach, role model, guide and promote totally non-violent, safe discipline methods. Parents learn age appropriate expectations for their children, how to encourage and empower children to make good decisions. Respect, empathy and appropriate family roles are some of the areas covered in the parenting education format.

Child Abuse/Neglect Prevention Program – Wayne County

The Parent & Children United Program focuses on preventing child abuse and neglect by providing home visitation services, along with parent education training groups designed to promote child and family safety and well-being.

This is an intensive four month program designed to build nurturing parenting skills. The program instructors use a research based family centered treatment model authored by Dr. Stephen Bavolek that stresses the importance of raising children in a warm, trusting and caring household. Families located in Southwest Detroit & Dearborn are welcome!

Your Choice Substance Abuse Prevention Program

The Your Choice program services youth ages 7-14 years who reside in the City of Detroit and who are at risk of becoming a substance abuser due to a parent or family member’s substance abuse or environmental; factors in the community, i.e.; high drug trafficking within the neighborhood. The goal is to educate and maximize deterrence of youth becoming involved in substance abuse. The program utilizes individual, family and group educational, recreational and cultural activities to achieve this goal.
