Welcome to Spectrum Community Eastern Region
Since 1976, Spectrum Community Services has provided services to persons with
disabilities in Wayne County with the mission to provide a spectrum of quality services
and life enhancing opportunities. In Wayne County we currently provide those
services and opportunities to individuals in Specialized Residential homes and in
Supported Independent Programs. Many of the individuals now living in their own
homes, suffered from the inhumanity of institutions that offered little more than
a substantial roof, three meals a day, exorbitant staff ratios and limited individual/personal
care. Some are still plagued by the memories of those times. In trying
to establish a safe and caring environment, we use annual goals to address areas
of community interaction, relationship building, safety and parental involvement.

Our individuals have participated in activities such as a cruise
on the Detroit Princess, sponsored by the Alahambra Association; The annual
Christmas/Karaoke party; Our annual “Around the World”
dance that addresses Cultural Diversity, picnics, ballgames, “theme oriented
dinners” movies, religious activities, shopping and eating out are all of the ways
individuals serve enjoy living outside the walls of institutions.
We have two individuals who are so committed to Spectrum ensuring services are
being appropriately provided that they are on Provider Boards. One individual
is a Board Member of our contracting agency, as well as two individuals are on the
advisory panel offer suggestions on improving the lifestyles of “individuals
with disabilities”. Some of the individuals we serve have jobs and one owns
a business.
Our focus is also on the health and safety of those we serve while providing
a fun place to live. Regular inspections are made by the State of Michigan,
Wayne County, our contracting agency and internally. We try to ensure
quality staff by imposing stringent guidelines on hiring practice and internal
recognition policy that can ensure longevity.
According to our consumer and staff satisfaction, we are meeting our goals.

designed to meet the individual’s needs in their own home and a non-licensed setting.

Coordination, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy,
