Spectrum Human Services, Inc. & Affiliated Companies is a child welfare, family preservation and mental health human services organization. Our comprehensive services include:
- Foster care and adoption services;
- Independent living programs for young adults;
- Family preservation programs;
- Juvenile detention facilities;
- Group homes for the developmentally disabled;
- Assisted living apartments;
- Employment/career services for adults;
- Outpatient mental health treatment for children, adults and families, and
- Residential substance abuse treatment programs for adults.
We are proud to serve over 1,800 mental, physical, emotional and/or behavioral challenged children, youth, teens and adults each day.

Founded in 1976, we opened the doors to our first home, Quincy Home, a 12-bed home located in northwest Detroit. Spectrum’s co-founders, James Minder and Susan Davis, believed that developmentally disabled children could be better served outside of institutions. We have since grown into six affiliated companies that provide a continuum of programs and services in ten Michigan counties including Berrien, Genesee, Kent, Lapeer, Macomb, Manistee/Benzie, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne.
