
Milestone is designed to meet the needs of juvenile
offenders with acute substance abuse needs. The program
focuses on providing intensive therapeutic, didactic and
supportive services. These services address and treat the
co-morbid issues of conduct challenges and substance abuse.
The broad range program assists youth with delinquency and behavioral
problems, to work towards remaining crime and drug free,
employed and in school. The program provides an alternative
to out-of-home detention placement.
Successful Treatment

in school upon termination from the substance abuse
treatment program

“drug-free” during treatment
JJDRA provides intensive home-based services to male and
female youth aged 14-21 that are adjudicated wards of the
state.
JJDRA serves as a diversion to out-of-home placement and
reintegration of community placement.
A treatment team consisting of a community treatment worker
and a youth surveillance worker work intensively with the
youth and family to prevent re-entry into the juvenile
residential system. During involvement with the program, the youth, family and team of workers discuess and identify goads to be achievied
The treatment team focuses on the strengths within the
family and empowers the youth and family by
providing encouragement, support, advocacy, referrals to community-based resources and assistance with many concrete needs.
Successful Program Delivery:
- 100% of youth remained crime free while receiving services
- 95% of youth completed programming were working and/or in school after release.
- 90% of youth that successfully completed the program did not become re-institutionalized within 12 months of the completion of services
- 100% of youth received required level of service contacts
Home Based Services is a continuum of care
made up of programs designed and implemented to serve
adjudicated youth within the community. Eligible youth
include those 11 to 19 years of age who have been
adjudicated through the Wayne County Juvenile Court System
and need intensive services that are designed to keep them
at home and crime-free. Emphasis is placed on exposing youth
to constructive recreational activities and reputable
employment opportunities, as well as involvement in weekly
social living skill building groups.
